Me & My Fishman TriplePlay Wireless Midi Controller

Posted on Posted in Ableton, Controllers

A few months ago, on Christmas, my Dad surprised me with the Fishman TriplePlay Wireless Midi Controller. When I tell you I felt like a kid again, it would be an understatement because I could hardly contain myself! The ideas for how I would use this new controller danced around my head uncontrollably, like dancing to dubstep and I really just wanted to head back home to my studio and get started right away!

Fact was I could now make dubstep, with my guitar, my native instrument Been playing the guitar since I was 15, 38 now that’s 23 years of guitar…wow! Started with Bass but ended up playing a 6-string as well. I could never really get into the Piano, tried on a few occasions and still do because I will eventually overcome my piano handicap.

Anyway, guitar is another story, anything I hear on it, I can find it and play it. I know my way around the fret board and when I imagined what it would be like to trigger loops and then play right over them with my fx and processors, my head exploded with infinite possibilities…what?!?!

I heard about the Fishman, thanks to my friend Marc Bauman, owner of House Recording Studios on Long Island, who told me about some dope new software called ThinkPlay,  too bad for me they only support Mac right now. I did not know what device you needed until I joined the ThinkPlay beta and they said I needed the Fishman TriplePlay Wireless controller…They were right and yes I did!

So now I have this awesome of controller and I am still as excited as the day I got it. I’ll be posting videos and mixes made entirely with this bad ass device shortly so stay tuned.
